Thirty percent slot of all category ‘A’ Senior High Schools have been reserved for students from pubic Junior High Schools across the country according to CSSPS guidelines.
CSSPS, the Computerised School Selection and Placement System is the system used by the Ghana Education Service (G.E.S) to place students transiting from the Junior High Schools (JHS) into Senior High Schools(SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS).

To ensure that students from deprived public Junior High Schools in the country are not disadvantaged from attending category “A” Senior High Schools, 30% of the placement in such schools hav been left for them.
To qualify to be admitted into a category “A” Senior High School, a student my meet the following criteria.
- Strictly reserved for candidates of Public JHS
- To qualify for this, candidates are required to select a
- Category ‘A’ school
- It is automatic and not optional
- Public JHS candidates who choose Category ‘A’ schools compete for placement
