The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation has indicated an extension in the deadline for the SIM cards Re-Registration exercise.

The SIM card re-registration exercise commenced on October 1, 2021 and was expected to end on March 31, 2022.

However, the Ministry, under the auspices of Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP), the exercise has to be extended to make available ample time for all to get their sims re-registered.

Reasons Ghanaians are in a queue to do SIM card Registration disclosed

Hon. Ursula, in a press release indicated that, over 7.5 million citizens and residents are still yet to obtain their Ghana Card, the mandatory requirement for the sim re-registration exercise and that makes the earlier stipulated deadline, unattainable.

In other to ensure every eligible SIM Card is captured, the Ministry has extended the deadline to July 31, 2022.

The Ministry is also working on a Self-Service SIM Registration App to facilitate the registration of SIM Cards for Ghanaians resident abroad and expected to be operational by mid April.
