ECOWAS Leaders are currently in Peace Talks in Accra over the civil crises in Mali involving the Military Junta who ousted elected President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and his government.
The event is being held at the Peduase Presidential Lodge built as a safe haven by President Kwame Nkrumah. This is significant given the historical perspective and relations between Dr. Nkrumah and Malian State.

The meeting in Accra is also very significant especially in the month of September when the rest of Africa and the Ghanaian People will be commemorating the FOUNDER’S DAY to celebrate the life of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah for his pioneering role in the Pan African agenda and the founding of modern state Ghana. There is also the nostalgic remembrance of the All-African Peoples Conference held here in Accra and was supposed to be a major turning point for the continent in its unity agenda.
Ghana-Guinea-Mali had held strong tides and relations between former President Modibo Keita of Mali, Sekou Toure of Guinea and Dr. Nkrumah.
A military coup appears to be underway in Mali
Whilst the Peduase Lodge host this all important meeting, the people of Ghana, especially the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and all well meaning Pan African believers would wish them well to resolve the impasse and find lasting peace for their Malian People.
It will be an earnest expectation that leaders of ECOWAS and the African Union would begin to appreciate the founding principles of the Pan African agenda and move beyond the political talk shop and make cogent effort towards actualising the aspirations of the African People.
