The communications Directorate of the South Tongu Constituency of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a press statement issued by its communications Director Mr. Agbeko Tetteh has condemned a physical attack on its communications team member Mr. Francis Kenneth Yao a.k.a Togbe Kokloye.
The Constituency Communications Directorate of the NPP noted with much surprise and disappointment the unconstitutional act meted out on their staunch member by one Mr. Samuel Kofi Agbenyo during Dela Radio’s Hododio Programme on Saturday, 1st August, 2020.
On Saturday, last week, there was a misunderstanding between Mr. Samuel Kofi Agbenyo (NDC communicator) and Mr. Francis Kenneth Yao Diamenu (NPP communicator) on live radio during Hododio Programme at Dela Radio in Adidome, Central Tongu. Reports available as published earlier suggest that, both communicators were discussing a published achievements of the Central Tongu Member of Parliamentary Hon. Alexander Gabby Hottordze.
It’s reported that, Mr. Samuel Kofi Agbenyo in the course of the discussion punched Mr. Francis Kenneth Yao Diamenu in the face. The action he neither denied nor admitted but only said, he is a left handed persons who moves his hands around when making arguments.
Though, the outfit of the Central Tongu NDC issued a statement earlier condemning the act, the NPP communications Directorate is not satisfied and wish the gentleman be sanctioned.
Read below the press statement issued by South Tongu NPP communications Director.
The South Tongu Communications Directorate of NPP has learnt with utmost shock, a physical attack on its team member, Mr. Francis Kenneth Yao Diamenu, who is otherwise known as Togbe Kokloye by one Mr. Samuel Kofi Agbenyo, a member of the Central Tongu NDC Communications Team in the studios of Dela Radio, 105.7MHz, during a political talk show dubbed ‘Hododio Programme’ on August 1, 2020.
This act is very cowardly, shameful and extremely reprehensible, to say the least.
I wish to state very strongly that the NPP and its communications outfit, especially in South Tongu, will not accept any physical or verbal intimidations from the NDC or any other political group.
I wish to remind our colleagues in the NDC that the unacceptable medieval way of doing politics has been rejected by the world; and as such, same must not be championed within the political terrain of Ghana.
Politics must remain a competition of ideas that seeks to make life more meaningful to the ordinary person or voter.
I must also remind our hard working and independent media houses that the security of our assigned members to their outlets must always be protected and guaranteed.
The NPP and its communications outfit shall remain very resolute and focus on the issues of development for the ordinary Ghanaian; and would never be detracted by our opponents whose only campaign message is empty criticisms and violence fomenting.
I charge all our members to continue to talk about the many development driven policies rolled out by the Nana Addo led NPP government and the need to give Nana Addo 4 more years to do more.
Again, I wish to ask the NDC and its members to demonstrate the superiority of their governance ideas rather than always announcing their physical strength at the least opportunity.
Real Vision must replace Violence in the political discourse of Ghana.
Mr. Agbeko Tetteh
Director of Communications, NPP, South Tongu.
