A group of National Service Personnel calling itself Coalition of Suffering National Service Personnel (COSNSP) has declared a nationwide strike action over unpaid allowances.
According to the leadership of the group, the strike action commences effective Monday, 16th of May, 2022 till further notice.
The statement issued and signed by Awaragya Wechea (President) and Yeboah Eric N. (Vice- President) said, the reasons for the strike action was as a result of failure of government through the National Service Scheme (NSS) to pay their outstanding March and April 2022 allowances due them.
The group also said, National Service Scheme (NSS) is owing some of their members (National Service Personnel) three to four months allowances.
They believe that, Personnel are struggling to make ends meet as a result of the delay in the payment of the allowances and the current economic hardship.
“We deserve appropriate treatment. We hereby call on all personnel to adhere and comply with this notice” The personnel said.
The Coalition of Suffering National Service Personnel (COSNSP) resolved on this decision upon the meeting held by its board members on the 7th of May, 2022 to unanimously agreed to declare a strike action.
