Traditional leaders in Wenchi recently conducted a series of traditional rites to revoke curses that had been cast on students by a teacher at St. Paul’s Anglican Basic School due to a missing mobile phone incident.
The teacher in question, Emmanuel Kyenubua, allegedly compelled several students to take oaths to various deities in an attempt to ascertain their innocence regarding his lost phone.
This story gained widespread attention, prompting the Wenchi Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Bono Region to launch an investigation into the matter.
The GES asserted that should the teacher be found culpable of these actions, he would face the consequences stipulated in the established code of conduct.
To address this situation, the Sumankwahene of the traditional council led the curse-reversal rituals. These ceremonies included the pouring of libations and the performance of various rituals, all of which took place on Friday, September 7, 2023.
