The management of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has disclosed a strict criteria for the replacement of the sacked Head coach. Ghana FA said that the next Black Stars’ coach must have a winning record with 15 years coaching experience.
This strict criteria according to the masses mean the GFA does not want “some” former players who they perceive can restore the lost face of GFA near the management of the Association considering the strict 15 years of experience.

The news about the replacement of the Head coach, Chris Hughton was called for due to Chris’ inability to lead the team to a better and considerable stage in the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast even if they should exit (Group stage is unencouraging).
Following the disappointing exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Ghana Football Association (GFA) outlines key requirements for the successor to Chris Hughton. The mandate emphasizes a winning track record and a minimum of 15 years of coaching experience.
After Hughton’s departure, a five-member committee, led by GFA Vice President Mark Addo has been formed aimed to select a suitable replacement within three (3) weeks. The ideal candidate must align with Ghana’s football values, possess a coaching philosophy in line with the national team’s ethos, and demonstrate disciplinary and tactical prowess.

The search committee is composed of key figures within the football landscape, including GFA Vice President Mark Addo (Chair), legal practitioner Ace Ankomah (vice chair), Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, Director of Coaching Education at the GFA, Ghanaian football legend Opoku Nti, and William Caesar Kartey, Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
However, concerns have been raised about the competency of the committee, particularly questioning the choice of Mark Addo as the leader. Addo had previously led the selection of former coach Milovan Rajevac, whose second tenure proved ineffective as Ghana exited the 2021 AFCON group stage after a loss to Comoros.

Doubts have surfaced regarding the committee’s competence, with specific scrutiny on the appointment of Mark Addo as its leader. Addo had previously overseen the selection of former coach Milovan Rajevac, whose second stint proved ineffective, leading to Ghana’s exit from the 2021 AFCON group stage following a defeat to Comoros.
