Popular Ghanaian video vixen, entrepreneur, content creator, and influencer, Shugatti has labeled Ghanaian youth as “lazy” because they don’t want to work but need money to live a flamboyant lifestyle.
This blunt assessment from an interview has sparked a heated debate about the work ethic of young Ghanaians. According to Shugatti, Ghana is teeming with job opportunities, but the youth are reluctant to roll up their sleeves and get to work.
Shugatti’s scathing critique is based on her personal experience as an employer. She recounts how a young lady she hired initially showed promise but soon became complacent and disobedient.
She said when you employ a Ghanaian youth, they accept the work wholeheartedly with the first three (3) to four (4) working but in the subsequent days, they reveal their real character towards work.
“This, Shugatti claims, is a widespread attitude among Ghanaian youth – they expect to reap the rewards without putting in the effort,” a netizen shared.
But what’s driving this alleged laziness? According to the interview, Shugatti believes it’s a sense of entitlement, with many young people assuming that success is handed to them on a silver platter. They think entrepreneurs like herself have “sugar daddies” backing them, rather than putting in the hard work and dedication required to succeed. Due to that, they stop the work and find themselves a sponsor(s).
Shugatti’s words are a wake-up call to Ghana’s youth. Is it time for them to shake off their complacency and take control of their futures? Or will they continue to rely on handouts and excuses? The debate rages on.
