TTAG takes action on proposed NTC 70% pass mark for GTLE

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has taken a diplomatic step for seeking the best of its members regarding the announced 70% pass mark for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
In a signed letter sighted by Coverghana.com.gh on 11th July 2023 which was signed by Jephthah Nana Kwame, TTAG President, and John Edem Avedzi, Secretary, the association communicated that In light of the reform in the GTLE pass mark, they have taken immediate action to address the matter for the best of their members.
“The leadership has appealed to the Honorable Minister for Education and relevant stakeholders to intervene and initiate a dialogue with the NTC regarding the possibility of revisiting the decision to increase the pass mark for the GTLE from 50% to 70%”, the letter stated.
Earlier in the news, the National Teaching Council (NTC) announced the registration of the September 2023 GTLE II where they stated that the pass mark guiding the new reform/exam has increased from 50% to 70%.
The said September 2023 GTLE II will commence on 13th September 2023 through to 15th September 2023.
Concerns unfolding also indicated that there are no concrete materials to study for the “Course mounted by NTC” hence making the said pass mark very arduous to obtain.
Others suggested that the “Course mounted by NTC” should be incorporated into the curriculum of Colleges of Education for easy and efficient implementation of the good intention NTC has for the teaching fraternity.
