The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has achieved a significant milestone, International Accreditation for Quality Management in teaching and learning to cement its commitment to academic excellence.

Through the Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), UCC has been granted international accreditation by the Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics (ASIIN). This accreditation recognizes the university’s adherence to institutional, procedural, and cultural requirements for effective teaching and successful learning.

In a letter jointly signed by Prof. Dr. Kathrin Lehmann, Prof. Dr. Gert Ingold, Chairpersons of the Accreditation Commission, and Dr. Iring Wasser, the Managing Director of ASIIN, it was announced that UCC’s accreditation is valid from 8th December 2023 to 19th January 2025.

The letter highlights the areas in which UCC excelled during the ASIIN review procedure. These areas include the definition of quality, educational programs, courses, and trainings, management of resources, as well as transparency and documentation. The comprehensive evaluation conducted by ASIIN resulted in a published report that documents UCC’s maturity levels in these key areas.

This international accreditation is a significant achievement for UCC and a testament to the university’s commitment to providing high-quality education. The accreditation is also aligned with the Disbursement Linked Results (DLR)7 on the Africa Centres of Excellence (ACE) Impact Project of the World Bank, which is facilitated by the Association of African Universities (AAU).

The accreditation not only validates UCC’s dedication to excellence but also enhances the university’s reputation on the global stage.
