The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections of the University of Ghana, Legon has been postponed indefinitely following some issues raised by the Electoral Commission. The SRC elections was supposed to take place on 2nd September, 2022 as per the EC’s initial schedule and arrangements.

The Electoral Commission however issued a release on 1st September, 2022 informing all stakeholders and aspirants of the new arrangements and postponement of the elections indefinitely as required by the SRC constitution.

The reason for the postponement as stated by the commission is that some outlawed practices have taken place involving some stakeholders in the election. These misconducts have marred and retarded the electoral process and has made it necessary to advance the date in order to clarify issues for a free and fair elections.

The Electoral Commission apologizes for any inconvenience caused and promises to work swiftly in bringing out a new date for the elections as soon as possible.
