MPHIL / PHD PROGRAMMMES IN MEDICAL IMAGING APPLICANTS

It is announced for the information of prospective Applicants (as specified above) and the general public that the sale of  E-vouchers for application forms 2020/2021 Postgraduate Programmes of the University of Health and Allied Sciences commenced on March 7, 2021 until further notice at a cost of GH¢220.00

1. MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (MPHIL) IN MEDICAL IMAGING

The MPhil programme has two pathways – the two (2) years Full-Time (regular) and the three years Part-Time (sandwich) options. The timeline for the full time (regular) format will be consistent with the academic timetable of the university (usually runs from (August to June). For Part-Time students, the first year will consist of two long vacations (June – August). Each long vacation period will be equivalent to one semester.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MPHIL

Applicants must hold a first degree (at least 2nd class lower or 2.2 GPA) in Medical Imaging (Diagnostic/therapy Radiography), Nuclear Medicine or related MI area from a recognised University.
Applicants must have at least two years work experience as a diagnostic or therapy radiographer, mammographer, sonographer or other related MI specialties.

Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees

Applicants must pass an admission interview

Ghanaian and foreign applicants are eligible to apply

2. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PHD)

The PhD programme is a four (4)-year full-time or six years’ part-time programme to be conducted in similar formats as the MPhil full time (regular) and part-time (sandwich)]. In the first academic year, candidates will undertake same taught courses to enable them identify areas of research interest in MI to conduct their research. The timeline for the full time (regular) format will be consistent with the academic timetable of the university (usually runs from August to June). For Part-Time students, the first year will consist of two long vacations (June – August). Each long vacation period will be equivalent to one semester.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR PHD

Applicants must hold an MPhil or MSc. in Medical Imaging, Therapy Radiography, Nuclear Medicine or related MI area from a recognised University.

Applicants must have at least three years work experience as a diagnostic or therapy radiographer, mammographer, sonographer or other related MI specialties.

Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees.

Applicants must pass an admission interview

Ghanaian and foreign applicants are eligible to apply

Research proposal (not more than 700 words)

Statement of purpose (not more than 500 words)

1. MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (MPHIL REGULAR) IN APPLIED EPIDEMIOLOGY

Duration: The programme will be full time for a period of 24 months

Entry Requirements

A good first degree (with a minimum of second-class lower division) in relevant health and health-related field.

Applicants with three (3) years relevant working experience are preferred.

All candidate should have a background or interest in Public Health.

Applicants will be required to submit their Curriculum Vitae, pass an entrance examination and /or an interview, and may be required to submit a 500-word concept note on their chosen area of interest.

2. MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH – REGULAR) with the following options:

Epidemiology and Disease Control
General

Health Promotion

Health Systems Management

Monitoring and Evaluation
Nutrition

Family and Reproductive Health

Entry Requirements

A good first degree (minimum of second class lower) from a recognized accredited University. Although not essential, relevant working experience in the health sector will be an advantage.

Candidates with high Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) but limited post-qualification experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applicants should have an interest in Public Health. This will be assessed at interview.

Applicants will be required to submit their Curriculum Vitae, pass an entrance interview, and may be required to submit a 500-word concept note on their chosen area of interest.

Duration: The programme has TWO pathways: A Full Time programme for a period of 12 months and a Part-Time programme, organized over 24 months period.

2. DOCTOR of PHILOSOPHY (PhD in PUBLIC HEALTH)

Entry Requirements

A degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), Master of Public Health, other Masters degrees in Medical/Health Sciences or their equivalent in a relevant field from a recognized institution is required.

Two reference statements/letters from professional and/academic referees.

A Statement of Purpose from the candidate (not more than 500 words)

Applicants who meet the minimum requirements upon submission of relevant documents, will be invited to undergo a rigorous academic interview.

Ghanaian and foreign nationals/international students are eligible to apply.

Duration of the Programme: The duration of this PhD programme is a minimum of three (3) years (6 Semesters) for Full-time study and a minimum of five (5) years (10 Semester) for Part-time study.

The deadline for completion of the online application form for the Postgraduate Programmes is until further notice.
