Updates from the 2nd Delegates Congress of CoSISOs

The Conference of School Improvement Support Officers (CoSISOs) has attended its 2nd Delegates Congress.
The Delegate Congress was held at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall in Accra on the 5th day of April 2023.
At the Congress, the betterment of CoSISO was talked about to the core where issues of standard for the operation were marked as the hallmark of the congress.
UPDATES FROM THE 2ND DELEGATES CONGRESS OF COSISOs
Ahead of the day of the Congress (4th April 2023), three (3) delegates from each of the sixteen (16) Regions reported on the 4th day of April in readiness for congress
On the scheduled date, 5th April 2023, a speech was delivered by the outgoing Chairman of the CoSISO, Mr. Francis Kponvi where he talked at length about the achievements under his leadership in different folds.
His speech covered Registration of the association, motorbikes for SISOs, and he hijacked monitoring allowance among others.
Also, he urged the incoming Chairmen, commencing from the District levels to the National level to be bold, firm, and proactive in championing the course of members.
In addition, the leadership of the three (3) Teacher Unions expressed their joy with regard to the formation of COSISO, Ghana.
Further, they hinted at the responsibility and risk allowances among others, and disclosed that they are captured in the new condition of service which is about to be presented to the Fair Wages and Salary Commission for consideration.
At the Congress, Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah, the Divisional Director for Schools and Instruction, also gave a speech.
As the Chairman of the congress, he spoke about the only way to have the challenges of members addressed.
He disclosed that the only ultimate way get their concerns listened to is to come together and have a united front.
According to Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah, the success of the education sector depends on the SISOs hence the need to be resourced effectively for the best outcome.
He (Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah) assured all SISOs of the support he and the association will offer for the best outcome.
To enhance efficiency in the education sector, it was disclosed that a standard operational manual, also known as a (standard operational manual) has been designed for SISOs.
In the submission of his displeasure about not supervising the 2nd cycle institutions, he said the majority of SISOs do not visit the 2nd cycle institutions that fall under their jurisdictions very often.
According to him, secondary schools are part of the pre-tertiary institutions therefore, he urged all SISOs to visit them and give the needed support.
Finally, Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah also urged SISOs not to feel intimidated in the course of discharging their duties.
The DG/CEO OF GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah gave a gratitude speech to the leadership for the opportunity to meet all representatives of SISOs for the first time.
Dr. Eric Nkansh also dived into the roles of the SISOs and acknowledged the roles they play in the education sector.
He also promised to work with the requests laid before him within his domain and channel the rest to the appropriate quarters for attendance.
On the side of empowerment, he urged the leadership to collaborate with the Teacher Unions to incorporate some of their needs for negotiation.
Responding to a question on NST reimbursement, he said NaCCA has released the PVs to Finance Ministry for payments and assured the participants of the payments soon.
ELECTION OF NATIONAL EXECUTIVES
At the delegate’s congress, officers were elected to head the affairs of the association.
Their tenure with come to an end in the next two (2) years.
The elected officers are as follows:
1. Chairman- Mr. Francis Essien-Brown.
2. Vice Chairman- Isaac Ouadrago.
3. Secretary- Isaac Appiah Ngissah.
4. Dep Secretary- Abubarkari Mohammed Sani.
5. Treasurer- Mariana Salifu Bakuna.
6. Financial Secretary – Florence Minnah.
7. Organiser – Collins Osei Bonsu.
8. Deputy Organizer – James Darko.
9. PRO – Gloria Narki Boatey.
