Urgent Reminder: GES announces first term vacation date for Basic Schools

Management of Ghana Education Service has sent a reminder to teachers, students and District/Municipal/Metropolitan Directorates via Regional Directors of Education, information them on first term vacation date for Basic Schools and contact hours.
According to the information, the first term for the 2022 academic year began on 18th January, 2022 and expected to end on 7th April, 2022.

In a statement, management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) sends its complements to all staff and wishes to thank them for their unflinching support in implementing education policies.
The statement signed by Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tando, Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Assurance said, as the 1st term comes to a close for basic schools – KG, Primary and Junior High Schools, GES wishes to remind all heads of the calendar for 2022 Academic Year.

In reiterating the position of GES on the 2022 academic calendar, Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tando said,
The First Term is scheduled for 18th January, 2022 to 7th April, 2022.
The Second Term is scheduled for 10th May, 2022 to 11th August, 2022 while the Third Term starts from 13th September, 2022 to 15th December, 2022.

Additionally, contact hours for basic schools are as follows:
7:00am to 2:00pm
7:30am to 2:30pm
8:00am to 3:00pm
These suggested contact hours are dependent on the peculiar circumstances of the community.
Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tando said, by this letter, Regional Directors of Education are to communicate to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education to ensure that Heads of Basic Schools take note and implement accordingly.
