A total of eight-seven (87) National Service Personnel within the North Tongu District have all benefited from the MP’s donation.

According to Ablakwa, he donated his entire two-month salary as MP (January and February 2022) to the North Tongu National Service Scheme District Office as his modest contribution to help cushion the 87 national service personnel posted to the constituency who have not received their allowances from government for some three months.

He quickly arranged some fund to be disbursed to eighty-seven (87) national service personnel in the whole district as one out of the many interventions of the Honorable Member of Parliament.

“The Scheme’s Director informs me all personnel have now received their direct MoMo transfers. I really wish I was in the position to do more to alleviate the plight of these dedicated personnel who gladly agreed to serve their country in my largely rural holy district.” Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said.

In all, an amount of GH¢ 26,100 has been released to the personnels.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also appealled to government to expedite action in paying all accumulated arrears owed our gallant but vulnerable national service personnel.

He noted that, in all sincerity, the paltry allowances of national service personnel shouldn’t be left out anytime monthly wages of public sector workers are processed for payment.

This activity took place at the North Tongu District Court under the supervision of Mr. Badagbor Mike Morrison Kekeli, the National Democratic Congress Constituency Organizer for North Tongu and also Coordinator for Most Special Projects on Tuesday, 22nd March, 2022.

The Service Personnel has explained to Coverghana.com.gh that, the last time they were paid allowance was December 2021. They have outstanding allowances for January, February and March unpaid.

The MP is also known for the following social interventions over the years;

1. Lockdown support for his constituents who were locked down in Accra and Kumasi during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

2. Payment of stipend to Private Schools Teachers who were not paid during lockdown.

3. Payment stipend to Musahamat farm workers who were laid off because of covid-19.

4. During the last christmas, he also supported the NABCO workers when their salaries were not paid.
