V/R: Steel bridge collapse at Saikope-Mepe along Adidome-Juapong Road
The Steel bridge at Saikope-Mepe along Adidome-Juapong Road in the Volta Region has collapsed.
The people of the area woke up to meet the distressing news of a sad accident. It was reported that the incident occurred on Thursday, 25th January 2024 night.
According to our news reports, we have it that a fully loaded trailer carrying salt, likely surpassing the recommended maximum load of 25 tonnes, traversed the bridge, resulting in its collapse.
Fortunately, the driver and the mate are reported to be safe.
The residents of the area have informed all relevant stakeholders to ensure that swift action is taken. They are calling for the construction of a new bridge at the location to aid their daily activities and safe stay.

As it stands, all motorists are advised to utilize the diversion via Dadome to Adidome and Juapong.
