The NDC MP for tamale Central, Hon. Mutala Mohammed says Member of Parliament who voted for Hawa Koomson and Co.  betrayed the grassroots.

Some members of the NDC have been agitating after some of their Members of Parliament went against the party’s decision.

The minority Caucus in Parliament took a decision to vote against some of President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Ministerial nominees.

The nominees which the party took the decision to reject are; Hawa Koomson, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Akoto Afriyie.

However, on the day of Voting, some NDC MPs voted against the decision of their party to approve these nominees.

Speaking on the issue, Hon. Mutala Mohammed indicated that the MPs who voted contrary to the party’s position have betrayed the party.

The Tamale Central lawmaker said;

“I think the base is justified to be outraged. My conscience is clear as Mutala is very clear and I never voted any of three (3) individuals.

I didn’t vote for them because I hated them but because I think that they are unfit to occupy those offices. Some of them lied under oath, some of them demonstrated that they cannot manage people.

I have made my Position very clear but as to the faustration and the anger of the base, it is  absolutely justified because the base expected that if you cannot get justice in any other institution, the only place that they are expected to get justice is in Parliament.

If the Nominees has gotten the numbers of votes equal to that of the number of people representing the NPP in Parliament, there wouldn’t have been any problem because we knew that some of their members were not present but for them to get other number of votes, what are we telling the base.”
