The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the next New Patriotic Party Government will pay the tertiary fees for any free Senior High School graduate who’s parents cannot pay tertiary fees by way of student loan.

Speaking to students of the Sirigu Senior High School in the Upper East Region, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia indicated that in addition to the Free SHS policy that they have implemented, the next Akufo-Addo led Government will make it easy for students to enter the tertiary institutions with the pledge of Tertiary Students’ Loan without guarantors.

According to the Vice President, the most important thing after free SHS is going to the university and that Government will pay the University fees of students who’s parents cannot pay the fees through the students loan scheme.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during his interaction with the students said;

“We’re trying to build a Nation that is going to be prosperous, modern and a transformed nation. A Nation that will produce jobs, a Nation that will be an educated nation and that is why we brought the free Senior High School Education that you are benefiting from and now what is most important is that beyond the free Senior High School Education, we want all of you to have the opportunity to go to the University.

One of the problems that we have is that many of our parents cannot afford the University fees and so we are bringing in a new policy. We will make sure that any of you who passes to go to the University and doesn’t have the money, Government will pay on your behalf by way of a tertiary loan.

All you need to obtain that money is your Ghana Card. Once you bring your Ghana Card and admission to the university, we’ll pay the fees for you and after you finish your University and your National Service and you get a job, then you can pay back little by little.
