Lawyer and Member of Parliament for the Adansi-Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Hon. Kobina Tahir Hammond has given an explanation to why the Government of Ghana has deployed teams of armed security men to the Volta Region.
From the beginning of these week, there have been many media reports of how armed military officers have been deployed into the Volta Region especially the Ketu North municipality and how some residents there say they feel intimidated by their presence.

However, in a joynews video sighted by coverghana, the Hon. Kobina Tahir Hammond explained that, the armed officers are there to make sure that people vote if they are Ghanaians, vote if you they have the constitutional right in Ghana to vote. They are not electoral officers but they are a peace keeping force. The police, the immigration and whatever are there are there keeping the peace and to make sure that there is no infiltration into the register.
