The Forestry Commission in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District has nabbed some individuals involved in the cultivating of Indian herbs within the District.

Mr. Richard Amoateng (District Manager – Forestry Commission) indicated that, they had a tip off on the activities of the said individuals in the Obuo Akroma Forest Reserve and had to mobilize to get them arrested.

According to him, a teacher at the Donkorkrom Agric Senior High School (DASHS) in the person of Mr. Michael Anakpo is in charge of the farm.

Five, out of the thirteen suspects have been arrested and handed over to the Ghana Police Service.

The suspects are Michael Anakpo, Normenyo Blewu, Kwasi Mawuena, Charles Kale and Emmanuel Kojo.

5 containers of wee, 3 big sacks of wee, 6 small sacks of wee, 3 cutlasses, 2 holes a knife and a pack of 5 Stars soft drink were found with the suspects.

According to Mr. Richard Amoateng, the Commission would be visiting the areas soon for intensive operations to curb all individuals involved in the illegal cultivation of the herb.
