Volta Regional Minister inaugurates 7-member committee to investigate Sokode SHS and Sokode community clash
Hon. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, has inaugurated seven-member committee to investigate the Sokode Senior High School (SHS) and Sokode community clash.
According to Hon. Gunu, the committee is made up of representatives from the Education Directorate, Police Service, local authorities, and the PTA, and has been tasked with:
- Identifying the root cause of the clash
- Assessing the extent of injuries
- Determining responsible individuals or groups
- Identifying security lapses
- Recommending preventive measures amongst others
The committee has been given two (2) weeks to present their findings.
“They have two weeks to present their findings, and I am confident they will do an excellent job. Education cannot thrive in conflict. We must ensure a safe and peaceful environment for our students.”
Further, the Regional Minister commended the Regional Education Directorate for swiftly implementing the Regional Security Council’s advice and appreciate the commitment of the committee, chaired by Mr. Alexander M.A.K. Buadi, to upholding discipline and security in our schools.

A violent clash erupted between students of Sokode Senior High School and members of the Sokode Gborgame community, leading to several injuries and damage of properties. The cause of the altercation remains unclear, but the situation quickly escalated, drawing the attention of security agencies and regional leadership.
As an immediate response to restore calm and ensure the safety of students and residents, REGSEC has temporarily shut down the school. Transportation arrangements have been swiftly made to facilitate the safe return of students to their respective homes while a thorough investigation is carried out.
