Volta Regional Minister receives feasibility report on transforming Ho Teaching Hospital

Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister has received a feasibility report on transforming the Ho Teaching Hospital.

The Regional Minister on February 11, 2025, hosted a delegation from the Ho Teaching Hospital and the Yonsei University Industry Consortium, Korea, led by Dr. John Tampuori, CEO of Ho Teaching Hospital. Their visit was to brief him on feasibility studies for a major expansion project at the hospital.

The delegation presented their final feasibility report, outlining a plan to transform Ho Teaching Hospital into a world class medical hub.

“This project will not only enhance healthcare delivery but also provide critical support to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and other institutions in the region,” Hon. James Gunu stated.

The delegation, which has been engaging Chiefs, Civil Society Groups, and the Volta Regional Parliamentary Caucus, urged him to add his voice to this advocacy to ensure that the facility is established in the Volta Region.

Professor So Yoon Kim from Korea expressed optimism about this collaboration, highlighting the strong partnership between Ghana and Korea and their continued commitment to supporting healthcare development.

Hon. Gunu wholeheartedly welcome this initiative, as the proposed 500 bed facility will bring state of the art medical infrastructure, including a specialized spinal surgery unit, making Ho Teaching Hospital a center of excellence in medical care.

“Healthcare is a top priority for H. E. John Dramani Mahama, and I will engage with key stakeholders to ensure that this project becomes a reality, he assured the delegation.

“I commend the Ho Teaching Hospital team and our Korean partners for their dedication, and I assure them of my full support in making this project a success.”
