VRA ends controlled spillage from Akosombo Dam

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has ended the controlled spillage from Akosombo Dam.

In an official notice issued today, 30th October 2023, by the Corporate Affairs and External Relations Units for VRA, they said the public, particularly residents living along the Lower Volta River and its environs are now free from the controlled spillage from the Akosombo dam, which began on September 15, 2023.

Adding, VRA indicated that they are committed to continuing the relief and rehabilitation efforts until lives and livelihoods are restored.

Also, they acknowledge the various Government agencies and stakeholders for their support to the impacted communities.

The spillage since its day of commencement has displaced thousands of homes and disrupted businesses making life unbearable for the affected victims in the three (3) Tongu constituencies, North, Central, and South.
