The right thing must be done during the polls. We will win the elections at the polling station and won’t wait for collation centre results nor petition the Supreme Court if aggrieved,” Former President John Dramani Mahama has said.

Speaking in the Twi Language and blended with English Language at Akina FM in Techiman, he added that, the 2020 elections taught the National Democratic Congress that elections can only be won at the polling stations, thus they will not let their guards down in the 2024 General Elections.

Prior to the December 2020 General Elections, the former President made similar statement as a sign of cautioning government and state institutions like the Electoral Commission of Ghana in order to ensure free and fair elections. He said, “The NDC shall match NPP boot for boot” in the general elections. This statement has energized the Ghanaian citizens ahead of the polls, but couldn’t materialize for him.

Meanwhile, his main political opponent His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2012 said, “You must understand that this party was formed by courageous people. Our leaders who formed this party that has now become the biggest political movement in Ghana were not cowards. So in 2012 we need to be courageous because all ‘die be die’. All die be die” Nana Addo said this when he was an opposition leader of the New Patriotic Party struggling for political power.
