Water Shortage to hit many Parts of Accra as Ghana Water Shutdown the Weija Water Treatment Plant
The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has issued a press release dated 22nd June, 2020 in which the company indicated that the Weija Headworks will be shut down on Tuesday 23 June, 2020 and some communities in the Accra.
According to the statement, the purpose of this intended shutdown is for repairs works to be effected on a raw water pipe line and in addition, the Accra West Region will also carry out repair and maintenance works on defective valves on the main transmission
lines.

Some of the communities in the Accra such as, Weija,  Mallam Junction, Gbawe, Anyaa, Awoshie, Dansoman, Sakaman, Kaneshie, Lapaz, Nii Boi Town, Achimota and surrounding areas and communities will loose supply water effective today Tuesday 23rd June, 2020
The management of the Ghana Water Company Limited is therefore calling on all it’s customers that are in the affected areas to store much water as much as possible. They GWCL also apologized to the general public for any inconveniences caused by the shutdown of the water treatment plant.
