The Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture, Yaw Frimpong Addo has given assurance to assist the sector Minister and for that matter President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to achieve the objectives for his second term.
Responding to questions at the Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Yaw Frimpong Addo said he has been paying his taxes and declaring his assets.
Addressing issues on how affected lands by illegal mining or galamsey could be used for cocoa production in the Amenfi area, the nominee said due to galamsey menace reclamation has been so difficult, however he said, all measures will be employed to salvage these affected lands.
He said the youth must be educated on the opportunities in agribusiness to address the issue of unemployment and that full attention be given to them to know exactly what they require.
The nominee called for responsible mining, and although admitting balance on farming and mining activities is a herculean task, he said it can be done and that there must be collaborative efforts from relevant ministries.
He advocated for improvement of the nature of roads in the country to avert waste of food supply which could have been consumed or exported and called for linkage between the Roads and Highways and Local Government ministries to reduce waste of food supply.
