YEA employment for Apparel and Textiles Module 2023

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) of Ghana has recently unveiled an exciting opportunity for young people with a passion for tailoring, dressmaking, and industrial sewing.

The Garment and Apparel Training and Employment Programme aims to create sustainable avenues for skill development and employment in the textile industry. This article provides detailed information about the eligibility criteria and application process for interested individuals and companies.

Eligibility Criteria: The YEA has outlined specific eligibility criteria for different categories of applicants:

A. Garment and Apparel Companies:

Companies must be registered entities with a primary focus on the garment and apparel sector.
They must be capable of training and employing all the beneficiaries they train.
The company should possess the necessary infrastructure to provide comprehensive training for the assigned beneficiaries over a six-month period, leading to potential permanent employment.

B. Micro and Small Scale Seamstresses and Tailors:

Applicants must demonstrate expertise in tailoring or dressmaking as master craft persons.
Possession of the appropriate operating certificate for their respective businesses is mandatory.
The applicant’s business should have been operational for a minimum of one year.

C. Beneficiaries:

The program is open to Ghanaian youth aged between 18 and 35 years.
While a basic educational qualification is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement.
Aspiring beneficiaries must showcase a genuine interest in sewing and a desire to pursue a career in mass production.

Mode of Application:

Interested individuals and companies can submit their applications through the YEA’s official website, www.apply.yea.gov.gh. The application portal will be open from June 27th to July 10th, 2023.
