Award-winning investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni says, the newly appointed acting Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has a lot of work to do in his new office.
He believes that, COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has a lot of Principles to stay true in the office he’s been appointed to occupy.
Manasseh Azure Awuni said this in a congratulatory message to COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare following his appointment as the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Many Ghanaians said, politicians have manipulating the hand work of previous IGPs, the actions they believe have hindered them from performing their administrative duties deligently.
The Ghanaian citizens hope COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare’s new position would be used to instill discipline and integrity to the Ghana Police Service.
According to them, the perception of corruption has always been on the plate of the police; the insults of the men in uniform on our roads collecting GH¢1.00 must stop. They further added that, for insecurity, let the criminals in our society taste your leadership.
COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s Acting Inspector General of Police effective 1st August, 2021.
He takes over from James Oppong-Boanuh who is a lawyer and police officer who was appointed to be IGP by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in October 2019.
In a statement issued by the Director of Communications at office of the president Eugene Arhin said, COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare appointment follows the President’s directive to Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh to embark on his terminal leave.
Meanwhile, the outgoing IGP will, on Thursday, 7th October 2021 retires from the Police Service.
