According to IMANI boss, it appears that, President Nana Akufo-Addo’s directive for the Auditor-General Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo to proceed on 123 accumulated annual leave was to motivate and promote corruption under his government. This is because, Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo was eager to fight corruption under his leadership as the Ghanaian Auditor-General and his hard work has rather become more dangerous than ever to the government. “All work and no play (leave) makes Domelevo too dangerous in the fight to protect the public purse”. He added.

“I wonder why public officials fear audits. Audits whether in public or private enterprise allow managers/ leaders to identify gaps and fix them. For example, after subjecting ourselves to an audit, we identified gaps and fired officers responsible and replaced them. Now, I am comfortable but still ‘shine my eyes’ as I bear the ultimate responsibility in such matters. If the President allows his senior advisors to continue fighting Domelevo, he will be undoing his credentials as a protector of the purse.” He explained.
