A group calling itself Volta Youth Forum emerging from the Volta Region of Ghana has in a press statement copied to Coverghana.com.gh on Friday, 22nd May, 2020 is showing disappointment by registering its protest to the ignoble treatment of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo towards the Anlo constituency as far as the distribution of the national cake is concerned.

According to the group, they recall with much nostalgia how the Shime road which started with much jubilation from the citizens of Shime came to a halt as soon as president Nana Addo assumed the high office of the land.

Volta Youth Forum revealed that, the Shime roads which was started in 2015 during former president John Dramani Mahama’s government was to be completed in 2017. But to their dismay, president Akufo-Addo after assuming office on January 7, 2017 abandoned the projects.

In a joint press statement signed by Simon Awadzi, Precious Agboado, Gbordomegbor and Senam Doe, revealed that, GHACOS Ltd, the contractor working on the road was made to vacate the site as soon as there was change of government for auditing to be done. Since then the 20km road which was near 65-70% completion has been left to deteriorate under H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Volta Youth Forum has unequivocally declared to join chiefs from Kome and Shime to emphasize their collective demand for the completion of the Kome and Shime roads.

On the establishment of a factory in Anlo as part of their share of the one district one factory flagship programme, the group categorically announced to President Akufo-Addo that, the subjects and chiefs have also made lands readily available for building of a Senior High School as a result of the promise he made to the nation to build 350 Senior High Schools.

“The intentional behavior of the president to ignore developmental and socio- cultural issues of Anlo is becoming legendary.” The group accused.

The group is also accusing the president for abandoning and refusing to attend Hogbetsotso festival celebrated by the Anlos and many other major festivals in the region among others since he became the president in 2017.

The Volta Youth Forum also disclosed that, since President Akufo-Addo promised one million dollars per constituency, the Anlo has not benefited from its share for the past three years in office.

“We wants to assure the president that, we are also Ghanaians hence demand our fair share of the national cake. Once again we want to emphasis our fair demand as part of Ghana who also need to benefit from the national cake.” They added.
