One thousand three hundred and forty eight (1,348) Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Asutifi North District, Ahafo Region have today received a mathematical set wash to assist them prepare adequately ahead of their final examination starting on 14th September 2020.
The mathematical sets valued about GH¢ 6,740.00 were presented to the candidates from 62 schools kind courtesy the
Asutifi North District Assembly and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Asutifi North Constituency.

According to the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Patrick Banor in an interview the brain behind the presentation is to ensure that candidates are fully equipped for the their final examination which plays a critical role in their lives.
He said the donors thought it wise to support the candidates because in most rural communities where money is not easy to come by, parents find it extremely difficult to purchase basic learning items like mathematical sets for their wards and this goes a long way to affect the performance of the candidates.

He added that the said action taken has given a great relief to most parents and the candidates because during this time both become worried as to how to the presented item to enable the candidates to write and excel in the BECE.
” This will surely improve the District’s performance as compared to last year ” he stated.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Anthony Mensah mentioned, the central government is putting measures in place for the country to have quality education so the assembly together with the NPP Parliamentary Candidate decided to support with the provision of mathematical sets.
He explained parents go through difficulties in getting mathematical sets for candidates when BECE is due so the exercise conducted is of benefit. This will encourage them to write and pass their examination to also enjoy the free education pegged at the Senior High School level by NPP government.
Anthony Mensah advised the candidates desist from relying on ‘ Apor ‘ but instead they should concentrate on the topics taught by their teachers to make them come out with flying colours as expected.

The out – going District Education Director, Augustine Amoako Asare on behalf of Directorate thanked the donors for executing the exercise on time to help candidates to prepare well towards the examination.
“You can attest how challenging it is to have intact maths sets so for the assembly and NPP PC to come to your aid means they want the best for you” he stated.
He urged them to make good use of the items benefited to propel them to the free SHS policy. He told them, the only trick to pass examination is via learning so all must adhere to it to make their parents and the District proud.
Out of the 62 schools taking part in this year’s BECE, 47 are public whiles 15 are private. Seven hundred and twenty – six (726) of the total number of candidates are male and Sis hundred and twenty – two (622) represents female.
