A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sir-Obama Pokuase has taken a swift jab on Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency.

Sir-Obama Pokuase argued that, the resignation of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa must be treated with a pinch of salt as it lacks candour.

According to him, Ablakwa’s decision to discontinue his membership from the Parliament’s Appointments Committee is only geared towards the incitement of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) footsoldiers against Haruna Iddrisu led Minority Caucus of Parliament.

Ablakwa’s resignation resonates with the party’s grassroots; Volta Regional NDC

This came after the MP rendered his resignation letter to the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin and the Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu to exit the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

But, Sir-Obama Pokuase in a statement said, there’s nothing “principled and personal” about Ablakwa’s resignation as he wants the world to believe. He’s only playing on the emotional keyboards of the Mahama apologists. If he has a contrary reason(s) why he has resigned, he should put it out there.

“Social media, since the morning of Wednesday, March 31, 2021 has been awashed with news on the resignation of Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, NDC Member of Parliament for North Tongu from the Appointments Committee of Parliament.”

NDC Leadership reacts to disquiet and misgivings among Minority MPs; Says…

“The populace resignation letter which has caused mixed reaction in the media must be treated with a pinch of salt as it lacks candour.”

“Considering the chronology of events in the NDC leading to Ablakwa’s resignation, one can safely conclude that this only geared towards the incitement of NDC footsoldiers against the Haruna Iddrisu-led Minority Caucus.”

“You don’t need a rocket scientist to tell you that John Mahama is hellbent in removing Haruna who he sees as a major to his comeback from the position of a Minority Leader after several attempts to control the Tamale South MP relative to the approval of president Akufo-Addo’s ministers designate failed.”

Speaker of Parliament accepts Ablakwa’s resignation from Appointments Committee

“The straw that broke the camel’s back is the recent presidential hopeful posters of Haruna Iddrisu which sufficed on the internet. This development which has sent shivers down the spine of the 2020 NDC presidential loser and his followers is what has caused them to do the unthinkable by using the likes of Ablakwa, Sam George and co to dent Iddrisu’s image.”

“There’s nothing “principled and personal” about Ablakwa’s resignation as he wants the world to believe. He’s only playing on the emotional keyboards of the Mahama apologists. If he has a contrary reason(s) why he has resigned, he should put it out there.”

“In any event, wasn’t he Ablakwa in Parliament when president Akufo-Addo’s ministerial nominees, especially the “Big Three”, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, Afriyie-Akoto and Hawa Koomson were given a safe pass?”

“Why didn’t he issue a statement to disassociate himself from the “consensus stance and or overwhelming votes” given these nominees by his side of the House? What was he expecting different in the case of Ken Ofori-Atta; that the Finance Minister wouldn’t sail through? Gracious me!”

“If the North Tongu MP, Okudzeto Ablakwa wants Ghanaians to see him as a man of honour as he proclaims, then he should as well resign from all Committees of Parliament of which he is a member of and more importantly, resign from the August House of Parliament as MP. That, we can take him serious.”
