Akufo-Addo assures Ghanaians of government’s commitment to resolving economic challenges

During this year’s May Day celebration in Bolgatanga, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo addressed workers and assured them that his government is tirelessly working to address the current economic challenges.
He mentioned that his administration is actively engaging with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to obtain board approval for Ghana’s $3 billion bailout request, which will provide much-needed relief to Ghanaians.
“We remain fully committed to completing all necessary prior actions to submit Ghana’s request to the IMF’s integrity board for approval. Moreover, we have made significant strides towards the debt exchange program, and we are actively engaging with bilateral creditors to secure the financing needed for the IMF program,” President Akufo-Addo said.
The government is currently seeking $3 billion in support from the IMF to address Ghana’s economic challenges.
President Akufo-Addo also emphasized his commitment to achieving lasting peace in the protracted Bawku ethnic conflict before the end of his tenure, stating that it remains his highest priority as president.
