An Electrical and Electronic Engineering students at Kumasi Technical University Awudi K. Mawuli has described the current power outage in the country as a hybrid Dumsor of national disaster under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government.
According to him, the murder they say is not always physically slaughtering of a man but certain actions, words and deeds of some people, particularly in a government that was favoured into power is a potential cause of economic massacre.
He noted that, the current power outages in Ghana is unfortunate national crisis that no one can qualify with any gorgeous adjective. Though, the Minister of Energy Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh and some of their New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communicators are shamefully trying to cover the reality that, DUMSOR is not back, yet they do light out more than three to four times a day in many parts of the country.
The Electrical and Electronic Engineering students believes that, the new version of DUMSOR we are facing under the bad leadership of His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is worst than what was experienced under former President John Dramani Mahama’s Presidency. “Upon all, the Minister of Energy Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh could not tell Ghanaians the truth; however justifying the situation.” He said.
He added that, currently in Kumasi, the problem has worsen to the extent that businesses are collapsing every blessed day. Traders and cold store owners are crying. Students have no light to study. Food stuffs are damaging in their deep freezers and gadgets are being burnt due to frequent ON and OFF power without any notice.
“This government was left with excess power generation by the elsewhere John Dramani Mahama’s Government yet due to corruption, improper management and not being visionary, this is where we are today.” He said.
“Akufo Addo’s administration is the only government in the history of Ghana that taxed the citizens after social interventions. We can not forget the billions of Ghana Cedis they have wasted on the freebies that was distributed discriminately in 2020 to a section of Ghanaians and used the back door to collect taxes from the entire country in the name of paying for the cost. From day one, any well meaning Ghanaians could say it was a deliberate act to score a political point.”
“Our economy is a weak one that any bit from any sector will affect as negatively. Majority of Ghanaians life depend on their daily businesses so lack of electricity to operate their daily activities is causing a lot of people to starve under the current regime”
“We’re calling on the government to quickly address the problem and stop their usual NPP propaganda by comparing their highbred and new version of DUMSOR to what we have witnessed in the past.” He Indicated.
