What to know about SEforALL
SEforALL, an international organization dedicated to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) and the Paris Agreement through universal access to sustainable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, is seeking motivated and qualified candidates for its Women and Youth at the Forefront (WYFF) programme in Ghana and Kenya. The traineeship is a six-month, full-time short-term contract aimed at establishing training for employment programmes to train young graduates, particularly women, and prepare them for careers in the sustainable energy sector.
Background About SEforALL
SEforALL was launched by the 8th UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in 2012 to address the energy access gap and reduce greenhouse gas emissions as required by SDG7 and the Paris Agreement. SEforALL identifies a critical path to success through data-driven decision-making and partnerships with leaders in government, private sector and civil society. SEforALL supports the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative (SRSG) for Sustainable Energy for All and Co-Chair of UN-Energy.
Context/Objectives of the Results Offer
SEforALL’s WYFF programme is centered on empowering women and youth leaders to drive the just and equitable energy transition. The programme supports women’s career progression within the sector and ensures their representation in policy and decision-making. SEforALL’s Technical Training programs aim to establish training for employment programmes to train young graduates, particularly women, in the sustainable energy sector. The WYFF team, in collaboration with the Energy Transition Department, will implement a training programme for young graduates, particularly women, around key workstreams underway in Ghana and Kenya.
Duties and Tasks for the Role
The traineeship is aimed at training youth to prepare them for careers in the sustainable energy sector. The training will be carried out through a series of workshops, participation in key tasks, and by shadowing SEforALL staff in-country. The traineeship will focus on the following areas:
- Energy Access and Energy Transition
- Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
- Clean Cooking, Cooling for All, Powering Healthcare
- Energy Finance, International Relations, Policies
- Research, Energy Modelling, Communications
- Leadership, Networking, Stakeholder Engagement
Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for the traineeship, applicants must be 18-35 years old, hold a recent Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (within the past two years) in a STEM field or related area, and have 1-3 years of professional experience in energy, climate, engineering, or a similar field. Applicants must demonstrate completion of technical courses
core competencies for the Role
Applicants must demonstrate professionalism and personal leadership, planning and organization, communication and teamwork, analysis and creativity, and technological awareness. They must be willing to work in a multi-cultural and international environment based on mutual respect and tolerance. They should be able to exercise good judgment, discretion, and tact in handling sensitive issues and take a proactive approach to managing workflow.

Terms and Conditions
The SEforALL traineeship is designed to provide a training opportunity complemented by on-the-job learning, as opposed to a typical SEforALL internship. Trainees will be provided with a fixed stipend to facilitate participation in the programme. Trainees will remain fully responsible for bearing all their costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses connected to their traineeship.
