The Central Tongu District Assembly in the Volta Region has handed over CHPS compounds at Mafi Fiekpe and Mafi Anfoe to the Ghana Health Service . The projects which were funded by the District Development Facility (DDF).
According to the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Central Tongu District Assembly, Mr Thomas Moore Zonyrah who handed the projects on behalf of the District Assembly said, the district assembly has built about five (5) of these health projects which will be handed over before the year ends.
He said many projects such as School projects, library, reshaping of town and community roads, pipe borne water, construction and rehabilitation of market stalls.
He said the district assembly makes good use of every fund that’s made available to them.
The District Director of Ghana Health Service Justin Alornyo said the directorate needs more of those facilities in the district and promised to put the CHPS compound into good use. She appealed to philanthropists and non governmental organizations (NGOs) to bring more of their projects to the district to help enhance quality health care.
The assembly member for the area Mr. Victor Pascal Dekator said “It is the joy of every assembly member when your requests are being granted by the district assembly even though the project has been lobbied for by my predecessor”. He also appealed to NGOs to come to his electoral area to develop it .
The district assembly also presented delivery beds and hospital beds to the health directorate for work to start.
