Commencement of printed Ghana card issuance exercise postponed – NIA

Earlier, the National Identification Authority has announced Monday, 8th June, 2020 for the issuance of printed Ghana cards to 3,875,441 applicants in 5,635 registration centres in all 16 regions across Ghana.

The exercise according to them will enable 11,062,850 Ghanaian citizens to acquire Ghana cards. The NIA also noted that, they shall commence a mop-up exercise on 18th June, 2020 to middle of September, 2020.

In a latest development, the National Identification Authority (NIA) has postponed the date scheduled to commence issuance of printed Ghana cards to applicants across Ghana.

According to the press release issued by the NIA, the earlier communication to start distribution of printed Ghana cards to applicants on Monday, 8th June, 2020 has been changed to Wednesday, 10th June, 2020.

In the press statement signed by ACI. Francis Palmdeti, the Head of Corporate Affairs at NIA, the reason for the postponement is to enable the National Identification Authority to effectively complete the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to all registration centres across the country to help observe the precautionary measures in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
