Confirmed: GES announces reopening date for Public Basic Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the reopening date for Public Basic Schools across the Country.

According to Director-General, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa led Ghana Education Service, all Public Basic Schools shall reopen on Tuesday, 18th January, 2021.

The statement issued by GES said, the general public, particularly parents, teachers and pupils/students of KG, Primary and Junior High Schools are informed that the reopening dates was approved by the Minister for Education.

GES explained that, the approved dates are recommendations made by Ministerial Committee on Schools’ Calendar.

BREAKDOWN OF REOPENING DATE FOR PUBLIC BASIC SCHOOLS

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS

Junior High School (JHS) one (1) to three (3) will reopen on Tuesday, 18th January, 2022.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Primary one (1) to six (6) will also resume on the 18th January, 2022.

KINDERGARTEN

The Kindergarten one (1) and two (2) will also resume on the same date (18th January, 2022) as the primary and JHS.

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) said, the final academic calendar for the 2021/2022 academic year will be made available in the coming days.
