Controversial Textbooks: Education Minister to address Parliament on 25th March

Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum will respond to the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s urgent question on the infamous bigoted textbooks tomorrow, 25th March, 2021.

The Parliament of Ghana under the able Leadership of Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has granted the request of the minority’s MP Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s request seeking the Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Edutwum to clarify on the publication of tribal bigotry and offensive text books against the ewe.

On Thursday 25th of March 2021, the Minister of Education is expected and must address the house whether the publication of some primary text books by Badu Nkasa Publication has come to the attention of the Ministry. If so, whether the ministry granted approval for the said publications and possible steps taken to purge our schools and bookshops from offensive, decisive and incendiary publication of this nature.

Hon. Okudzeto is one of the many Ewes and notable Ghanaians rising against the unfortunate and unpleasant bigotry contents against the Ewe tribes’ history by some Publishers.

According to many indegens of Ewe Ethnic Groups, these kind of books if allowed to be used in our schools will cause no good but create bad impressions on the mind of our future generations particularly those of other tribes.

Badu Nkasa Publication has since apologized for the derogatory contents and swiftly withdrawn the History of Ghana textbooks from the market.
