Team Norman – Abraham Norman Nortey (President) and Bridget Opoku Boahemaa (Vice President) vying for the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Students Representative Council (SRC) has made their manifesto available for access.
Below is the full text as released by the team, Team Norman.
Fellow students, esteemed guests, and honored leaders, I stand before you today as a candidate for the UCC SRC Presidency, committed to serving our beloved university and its students. My team and I have crafted a vision for a better UCC, built on the principles of inclusivity, empowerment, and progress. We proudly present our manifesto, “The Public Good”.
APƆMUDEN HEALTH POLICIES
As your SRC President, I am committed to supporting student health and well-being. Our Apɔmuden Health Policies are designed to provide access to quality healthcare, promote health awareness, and foster a supportive environment for students to thrive.
– 24/7 Emergency Transport Service: We will provide healthcare transport for sick students, ensuring timely access to medical attention.
– Free Optometry Care: Our optometry care program will offer expert eye care at no cost, because we believe every student deserves to see their full potential.
– Medication Support: We will partner with pharmacies to ensure easy access to medication, making healthcare more accessible and affordable.
– Stay Protected: Our free vaccination and health screening programs will help prevent illnesses and detect health issues early, keeping our campus community safe and healthy.
– Nourishment for Recovery: We will provide daily healthy meals for hospitalized students, supporting their recovery and well-being.
AHONTOW ACADEMIC POLICIES
As your SRC President, I am committed to enhancing your learning experience and empowering your academic success. Our Ahontow Academic Policies are designed to create a conducive learning environment, promote academic excellence, and support your academic journey.
– Review of early morning lectures to 7:30am/8:00am: We will work with faculty to adjust lecture times, ensuring a more comfortable and productive learning experience.
– Agenda 101: One lecture hall, one mini wireless microphone: We will equip each lecture hall with modern technology, enhancing engagement and participation.
– Shuttle terminal & provision shop at SWLT: We will establish a shuttle terminal and provision shop at SWLT, making it easier for you to access essential services.
– Improved lecture theater facilities: We will repair and maintain projectors, sockets, air conditioners, fans, washroom bowls, and toilet seats, creating a comfortable and well maintained learning space.
– Final Year Project Fund: We will establish a fund to support research and project work, fostering a research culture and empowering your academic success.
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FOR ALL
As your SRC President, I am committed to empowering students with special needs and ensuring equal access to education. Our vision is to create an inclusive community that supports and celebrates diversity.
– We WilI Ensure Policy Implementation: The Students with Special Needs Policy has been approved, and we will ensure its implementation when we take office. Our commitment is to guarantee equal access and opportunities for all students, regardless of their abilities.
– Implementation of Disability Services Policy: We will establish a dedicated disability services office to provide support and resources.
– Accessible transportation to lectures: We will provide transportation services to ensure students with mobility impairments can attend classes comfortably.
– Braille materials for visually impaired students: We will provide Braille materials and assistive technology to support visually impaired students.
– Financial aid and food support: We will offer financial assistance and food support to students with special needs, ensuring their basic needs are met.
– Awareness events and workshops: We will organize events and workshops to promote inclusivity, raise awareness, and challenge stigmas surrounding disabilities.
WELFARE POLICIES
As your SRC President, I am committed to supporting your student journey and prioritizing your well being, success, and convenience.Our welfare policies are designed to ensure that you have a comfortable and supportive environment to thrive.
– Voice your concerns with ROTEST (Reach Out To Every Student’s Train): We will establish a dedicated platform for you to share your concerns and suggestions, ensuring that your voice is heard.
– Affordable shopping at SRC Mid-Semester Market: We will organize a mid-semester market with affordable prices, making it easier for you to access essential items.
– Boosted scholarship opportunities: VWe will work with faculty and external partners to increase scholarship opportunities, supporting your academic pursuits.
– Access all resources on UCC Mobile App: We will develop a mobile app that provides easy access to campus resources, services, and information.
-Relax and study with comfortable campus benches: We will install comfortable benches across campus, creating a conducive environment for studying and relaxation.
TRANSPORTATION POLICY
As your SRC President, I am committed to improving your campus experience by enhancing transportation services. Our transportation policy is designed to make transportation more accessible, affordable, and convenient for all students.
– Enhanced Shuttle Service: We will build bus stops at strategic locations across campus, allowing you to bo ard shuttles at any of these stops. This will make transportation more accessible and convenient, saving you time and effort.
– Affordable Travel: We will review and reduce shuttle fares to make transportation more affordable for all students. We believe that transportation should not be a burden and we will work to ensure that, it is affordable for everyone.
– Weekend Coverage: We will extend shuttle services to weekends, ensuring reliable transportation throughout the week. This means that you will have access to transportation services even on weekends. Making it easier to participate on campus activities and events.
ACCOMMODATION POLICY
As your SRC President, I am committed to supporting all students with affordable housing options. Our accommodation policy is designed to ensure that every student has access to comfortable and affordable housing, regardless of their financial background.
– Supporting Needy Students: We will partner with private hostels to offer subsidized rates for students with financial difficulties or from less privileged backgrounds. We will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with selected hostels to ensure that needy students receive the support they need.
– Rent Control & Affordability Initiative: We will collaborate with management to control rent prices and ensure affordable accommodation for all students. We will implement measures to minimize rate increases, ensuring that housing remains affordable for everyone.
– SRC Hall Annex Long-Term Plan: We will develop a comprehensive strategy for constructing an SRC hall annex, addressing the long-term accommodation needs of all students. This will provide a sustainable solution to the housing challenges faced by students.
SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
As your SRC President, I am committed to promoting sports, entertainment, and campus unity. Our vision is to make UCC the entertainment school in Ghana, celebrating our diversity, unity, and school spirit.
Campus Unity Festival: We will replace the hall week celebration with the Campus Unity Festival, a vibrant celebration of entertainment, featuring:

4. Music Concerts
5. Dance Battles
6. Comedy Nights
7. Fashion Shows
8. Gaming Tournaments
This festival will bring together students from all backgrounds and halls to:

– Games Village: We will designate specific areas on campus as the Games Village, hosting sports events and entertainment activities. We will offer free football matches and other sports competitions, promoting camaraderie and enjoyment among the diaspora community.
– The Quintessential Woman Competition: We will launch a prestigious competition, “The Quintessential Woman,” where hall queens compete at the SRC level for the crown. We will provide guidance and support for winners to participate in national and international pageantry, showcasing their talents and representing the university on a broader platform.
INTERNET CONNECTIVITY ENHANCEMENT POLICY
As your SRC President, I am committed to enhancing your academic experience by providing reliable internet access. Our internet connectivity enhancement policy is designed to ensure that you have fast and affordable internet connectivity to support your academic pursuits.

– Expanded Wifi coverage for seamless connectivity across campus!
SANITATION POLICY
As your SRC President, I am committed to maintaining a clean and healthy environment on campus. Our sanitation policy is designed to ensure that our campus is free from filth and hazards.
– Sanitation Segregation: Provide adequate dust bins on campus, strategically located at every vantage point, and segregate waste into categories (plastic, metal, paper, others) to make recycling easy and efficient.
– Clean-Up Initiatives: Organize regular clean-up exercises to maintain campus cleanliness and encourage student participation and ownership of our campus environment.
SECURITY POLICY
As your SRC President, I am committed to ensuring your safety and security on campus. Our security policy is designed to provide a safe and secure environment for all students.
– Introduction of DSS Number: Implementing a DSS (Diaspora Security Support) number system, providing a designated number for reporting security concerns or emergencies, and ensuring student safety and prompt response to security issues.

As your SRC President, I am committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and student engagement in governance. Our policy on governance is designed to ensure that students have a voice in decision-making processes.
– Empowering Transparency and Accountability: Strengthen the student audit committee to ensure transparency and accountability in financial management, and guarantee effective and responsible use of student funds.
– Amplifying Student Voices: Advocate for active participation of class representatives, floor representatives, and student associations in decision-making processes, and ensure student leaders have a significant voice in shaping policies and initiatives that affect them.
This policy aims to promote good governance, transparency, and student engagement in decision making processes, ensuring that student interests are represented and their voices heard.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP POLICY
As your SRC President, I am committed to empowering student innovation and entrepreneurship. Our entrepreneurship policy is designed to provide support and resources for student entrepreneurs.
– Partnership with D-Hub: Collaborate with D-Hub to provide mentorship, training programs, and networking opportunities for student entrepreneurs.
– Mega Business Idea Challenge: Organize a flagship event that brings together students, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to pitch innovative startup ideas and compete for support and resources.
SRC MULTI-PURPOSE CARD
As your SRC President, I am committed to making student life easier and more convenient. Our SRC multi-purpose card is designed to provide a range of benefits and services for students. These benefits include:
