GES announces registration details for 2024 BECE
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a directive to all Regional Directors urging them to ensure that candidates appearing for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) register for the approved courses.
According to the directive, the following subjects are categorized as mandatory and must be registered by all BECE candidates:
Mandatory subject for all candidate
- English Language,
- Mathematics,
- General Science,
- Social Studies,
- Religious and Moral Education,
- Career Technology, and Creative Arts and Design.
Optional subjects for candidates
- French,
- Arabic
- Computing

Elective subject
- Ghanaian Language
- Twi
- Fante
- Ewe
- Ga
- Dagbani
- Gonja
- Hausa
Candidate are expected to select the Ghanaian language they studied in their various schools.
All Regional Directors are to communicate the information to the respective Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education.
The GES emphasizes the importance of the cooperation and assistance of all education stakeholders in implementing this directive effectively. By adhering to the registration guidelines, the GES aims to create a standardized and fair examination environment for all BECE candidates.
As the registration process for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination commences, students, parents, and educators are encouraged to take note of the mandatory, elective, and optional subjects outlined by the Ghana Education Service.
