GES restores PTAs in all Senior High, Technical and STEM Schools

Ghana Education Service (GES) has restored Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all Senior High, Technical and STEM Schools nationwide. This official reinstatement by GES was signed by Daniel Fenyi, the Head of Public Relations (GES) on Thursday July 17, 2025.
In the official statement, GES stated that according to the directive from His Excellency, the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, on the full reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary schools across the country, they are officially informing parents, teachers, and stakeholders in the education sector to take note and help restructure the education sector through PTAs as it used to be.
“In line with this directive, Management of GES has instructed all Heads of Public Senior High, Technical and STEM Schools to operationalise the reinstatement of PTAs with immediate effect. This move is aimed at strengthening the collaboration and involvement of parents, communities and teachers in the delivery of quality education to Ghanaian learners.”
The release promised to set out the guidelines which will detail the structure, roles, and financial accountability mechanisms for the effective functioning of the PTAs.
“Further guidelines detailing the structure, roles, and financial accountability mechanisms for the effective functioning of PTAs will be issued in due course. These measures are intended to promote transparency, uniformity, and efficiency in the operations of PTAs nationwide.”
Calling on the stakeholders for the better rolling back of PTAs across all pre-tertiary GES stated “The Ghana Education Service counts on the support of all stakeholders to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of this important policy.
