Though, the Black Stars performed abysmally in the just ended 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the GFA president still believes that, the players need support to make Ghanaians proud in the forthcoming World Cup Qualifiers play-offs.

The Black Stars of Ghana will clash with the Supper Eagles of Nigeria on 25th March, 2022 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi of the Ashanti Region.

Kurt Okraku reiterated that, playing against Nigeria is very crucial but, Ghanaians have to make sure the stadium is full to capacity by Ghanaian citizens.

Taking control of the stadium, according to him should be the responsibility of the Ghanaian citizens to show the opponents [Nigeria] that they have come to Ghana. “It’s important to wake up to give the boys the support as a committed supporter.”  He added.

Kurt Okraku said,

“Kotoko and Hearts players are always motivated with the fans cheering them up with their songs in hard situations. You know that supports count and when you get the entire nation supporting the national team, things happen. We want all of us to be at the World Cup. Why should we pull back or sleep whiles we have to support the national team? We have to find the right levels of energy and support the team. As I said, that’s the team whether good or bad.”

“I granted some interviews after the recent AFCON but people did not understand. I stated that if we have Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi somewhere then we need him because that’s the only way the team can qualify. We need all the good players, and we need the supporters who are committed around. Playing against Nigeria, we have to make sure the stadium is ours. We have to take control of the stadium, let’s take control of the atmosphere around the stadium. We have to show our opponents that they have come to Ghana. It’s important to wake up to give the boys the support as a committed supporter.” Kurt Okraku said.
