The General Secretary of the Assemblies of God, Ghana Revered Dr. Kwame Bansah has assured the people of the Volta Region that, the Almighty God would intervene in order that the peace, security as well as the safety of which the Region is noted for would not be disrupted.
His statement came after some members of the Western Togoland Restoration Front (WTRF), a political wing of the Western Togoland Independence struggle who mounted road blocks in some parts of the Volta Region on Friday, 25th September, 2020 to further push their agenda for the independence of the Trans Volta Togoland.
The group numbering about fifty (50), blocked the main Accra-Aflao highway mainly with logs and also burnt lorry tyres at the Bakpa Tademe junction near Sogakope in the South Tongu District for more than three (3) hours and their subsequent arson at the Volta Regional capital Ho, State Transport Cooperation (STC) yard on Thursday, 29th September, 2020, where four armed men stormed Ho STC yard demanding the keys to all the vehicles parked and set two of the mini buses ablaze when the drivers did not produce the keys.
In a meeting with the Volta Regional Minister Dr. Archibald Letsa, Rev. Dr. Kwame Bansah who is on a working visit to the Volta Region swiftly condemned the activities of the Western Togoland secessionists.
Rev. Dr. Kwame Bansah who paid a courtesy visit on the Regional Minister at his office accompanied by the Regional Superintendent of the church, Rev. Sakyi and other officers of the church has conveyed to him the special greetings of the General Superintendent of the church, Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso.
In the meeting Dr. Bansah also conveyed the solidarity of the General Superintendent with the good people of the region as the region denounces and repudiates the activities of the secessionist groups.
Dr. Archibald Letsa in a statement expressed his happiness about the visit and the solidarity of the church. He therefore assured the church of government’s commitment towards ensuring the groups are dealt with appropriately to safeguard the safety, security and peace of the region and the country.
“I am grateful to Rev. Dr. Bansah and his retinue for their prayers for me and the Region.” The Regional Minister Dr. Letsa told.
