Government to implement 35% import duty on spare parts in 2021

The National concern spare parts dealers association and Abossey Okai spare parts ladies movement have hinted that, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will reintroduce the the implementation of the suspended 35% import duty on spare parts in 2021.
According to them, their checks disclosed that, the New Patriotic Party’s next government when maintained in power will bring back the 35% import duty on spare parts which they fought for to be suspended.

In a press statement issued by the Public Relations Officer Takyi Addo of the National Concern Spare Parts Dealers Association and the Vice President Abossey Okai Spare Parts ladies Movement Gifty Fianu, is calling on impoters and stakeholders to be vigilant and help push for the withdrawal of the duty.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we the National Concern Spare Parts Dealers Association and the National Spare Parts ladies Movement are calling for the attention of our members and other sister association members to be aware of the time bomd set for us coming 2021.
As a joint association seeking the Welfare of it’s members, we issued a statement asking the government to scrap off the 35% import .
We mentioned that ,the the increase will directly affect the local businesses.
The government since our statement have suspended the implementation of the 35% import duty.
Our inside checks and other sources have indicated that, the next NPP government will implement the 35% import duty on us.
We therefore calling on impoters and stakeholders to be vigilant and help push for the withdrawal of the duty.
We also challenging the government to come clean if they have no plans of implementing it.
We are promising the government that, we will fiercely resist any killer taxation.
