The Minister for Finance, Hon Ken Ofori-Atta as constitution demands, presented the budget statement for the 2023 fiscal year to parliament for approval on the 24th of November, 2022. There have been a lot of discussions after this presentation on the expectations of citizens and what was presented.
A portion of the budget reveals that the Government has allocated a colossal amount of GH¢80 million to be used for the building of the National Cathedral Project against the economic crisis and the hardship in the country.
In view of this, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, member of parliament for North Tongu constituency has also written to share his thoughts on this matter of National interest.
The Member of Parliament writes “After all the lawlessness, deception and dishonesty about the National Cathedral being a Contingency Project; the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/Ofori-Atta govt has finally been forced to do what is right by capturing a specific allocation of GH¢80 million in the 2023 Budget for approval.”
This leaves a lot of citizens thinking whether the current Government really thinks about the citizens and the financial difficulties they battle day in day out.
