Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is committed to improving adequately human resource and infrastructure of the Prison Service.
He explained that, the current achievements of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led NPP has led to the recruitment of some two thousand, nine hundred and fifty (2,950) recruits, and enlistment of three hundred (300) cadets, over the last four years.

Dr. Bawumia also disclosed that, government is also upgrading all health facilities in the prisons and constructing accommodation complexes for officers.
The Vice President said while speaking as the Guest Speaker at the graduation ceremony of one hundred and ninety-eight (198) men and women of the Officer Cadet Course Intake 28 into the Senior Officer Corps of the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra today.

He used the opportunity to underscored the crucial role of the Prisons Service in the administration of justice.
According to him, this administration will continue to work closely with the Service to develop the capacity of prison officers to enable them perform their duties by international standards.
