Hon. Woyome institutes annual support for BECE candidates in South Tongu
South Tongu MP - Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome
The South Tongu Lawmaker, Mr. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome has instituted an annual educational support for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The Member of Parliament has instituted the annual educational support to students as a way of improving academic performances in the South Tongu District and to lessen the financial burden and struggle most students pass through to get registered for the BECE.
Explaining to Coverghana.com.gh, the South Tongu Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress Mr. Francis Nyamasekpor said, the Member of Parliament has instituted two major educational supports among others in the Constituency.

He explained that, the able office of the MP has been paying for the cost of BECE Candidates’ passport pictures as required by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for registration since he [Kobena Mensah Woyome] was elected as MP for South Tongu.
He further explained that, every year, Mr. Woyome has been distributing customized mathematical sets to final year students ahead of their BECE.
Mr. Nyamasekpor noted that, Mr. Woyome, aside the annual supports to BECE candidates, he from time to time support some needy students at the tertiary level by paying their schools fees.

This information was picked by Coverghana.com.gh as representative of the Member of Parliament led by Mr. Francis Nyamasekpor presented Mathematical sets to the South Tongu Education Directorate for onward distribution to the 2021 BECE candidates.
The mathematical sets was handed over to the District Director of Education Evelyn Araba Zentey (Ms) to be given to a total of two thousand, two hundred and ninety-nine (2,299) BECE candidates from eighty-six (86) Junior High Schools in the area.
The donation was made on Wednesday, 27th October, 2021 to the Education Directorate.

The District Director of Education, Evelyn Araba Zentey (Ms) who received the items on behalf of the Directorate has expressed their appreciation to the Member of Parliament for his kind gestures and support towards education.
Madam Zentey also used the opportunity and appealed to the MP to extend his support to other areas in the Education Sector as he usually do.
