Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome is set to commission self-funded and well-equiped medical laboratory in his constituency.
According to the Lawmaker, the medical laboratory will be commissioned at the premises of the Dabala Health Centre on Monday, 10th October, 2022 to augment healthcare delivery for his constituents.
Initially, the project was supposed to be commissioned on 21st September, 2022 to mark the MP’s birthday, but was postponed due to another equally important engagement.
According to the MP, there shall Free Breast Cancer Screening for females after the commissioning exercise, since October is Break Cancer Awareness month. He has therefore encourage all females in the South Tongu Constituency to take the advantage of the exercise to text the status of their breast.
In January 2021, Hon. Woyome donated some essential health materials and equipment worth over GH₵100,000.00 to the Dabala Health Centre, a primary Health Facility in the suburb of Sogakope.
The MP made the donation to the District Director of the South Tongu Health Directorate at the premises of the Dabala Health Centre for onward distribution to the various department of the facility.
The items donated include; Waiting Steel Chairs (Stainless), Air conditioners and accessories, Examination Couch Bed (Large Size Stainless), HP laptop, Printer and accessories, Desktop computer, Swivel Chairs (Std), Tables and Chairs set, Surgical Face Mask, Examination Gloves, Non-Contact Gun Thermometer, Fridges, drip stands, Microscopes etc to be used by the hospital and patience that attend the facility.
Mr. Woyome explained that, the project is part of his commitment to the Health Sector in the District mainly to improve on the existing health care delivery, and to as much as possible decentralize services to some of the facilities at the primary level, so as to reduce the high traffic and pressure at the Sogakope District Hospital and as well as the Richard Novati Comboni Hospital.
He again said, the project was embarked on to ensure that, health facilities in the District have adequate laboratory at least in many of the facilities, and one of them is the Dabala Health Centre.
At the time of presenting the Hospital material and equipment to the South Tongu District Director Madam Mavis Agumeh, the MP hinted that, the items donated are to be used to furnish the laboratory which was almost complete.
The office of the MP is therefore inviting the people of South Tongu to be part of tomorrow’s exercise.
