South Tongu MP stocks Dabala Health Centre with essential health materials and equipment

The Member of Parliament for the South Tongu Constituency Honourable Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome has, on Tuesday, 12th January, 2021 donated some essential Health Materials and Equipment to the Dabala Health Centre, a primary Health Facility in the suburb of Sogakope.

The fourth term Member of Parliament for the South Tongu Constituency made the donation to the District Director of the South Tongu Health Directorate at the premises of the Dabala Health Centre for onward distribution to the various department of the facility.

The items donated include; Waiting Steel Chairs (Stainless), Air conditioners and accessories, Examination Couch Bed (Large Size Stainless), HP laptop, Printer and accessories, Desktop computer, Swivel Chairs (Std), Tables and Chairs set, Surgical Face Mask, Examination Gloves, Non-Contact Gun Thermometer, Fridges, drip stands, Microscopes etc to be used by the hospital and patience that attend the facility. The items, according to the MP worth over GH₵100,000.00.

Speaking at a short ceremony to officially handover the materials, Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome said, the donation is part of his commitment to the Health Sector in the District mainly to improve on the existing health care delivery, and to as much as possible decentralize services to some of the facilities at the primary level, so as to reduce the high traffic and pressure at the Sogakope District Hospital and as well as the Richard Novati Comboni Hospital.

He again said, the project was embarked on to ensure that, Health facilities in the District have adequate laboratory at least in many of the facilities, and one of them is the Dabala Health Centre.

Mr. Woyome hinted that, the items donated are to be used to furnish the laboratory which is almost complete, are likely to be commissioned hopefully in a month time from now.

The South Tongu Member of Parliament disclosed that, the donation is just the beginning of his project to extend more health consumables to other health facilities within his constituency, notable among them are; Tefle Kpotame Health Centre, Adutor Health Centre and Ageve Health Centre.

“This, I might say is not the end but the begging to extend similar donations to other health facilities. Key among them include, Tefle Kpotame Health Centre and as well as Adutor Health Centre. And some of these other once that are in Agave especially the hard to reach areas.” He said.

Mr. Woyome has reiterated that, he will try his best to get materials and equipment that will help improve upon easy access to health care delivery and to make the work quite easy for health workers across facilities in the District. He promised that, his office will do much more going forward.

He therefore handed over the items to the South Tongu District Health Director Madam Mavis Agumeh as a sign of his commitment to the improvement of health care delivery in the South Tongu District.

“We hope to extend it to all other facilities, 13 of them hopefully, to equip them handle most of the basic cases in the area at their level unless an issue that requires a referral to a higher institution. I committed to support Health facility that do not have wards for delivery.” Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome assured.

He added that, the donation was made based on the request of the District Director of the South Tongu Health Directorate Madam Mavis Agumeh. He also acknowledged the fact that, there is the need for maternity ward so that, more Midwives will be employed to help man the Dabala Health Centre to provide adequate health delivery to make life safer and comfortable for pregnant women in the deprived communities.
